The Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic Announces Launch of Team Canada 50/50 in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island
15 July, 2021

HALIFAX (July 15, 2021) – The Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic (CSI Atlantic) is excited to announce our partnership with the Canadian Olympic Foundation (COF), for the first-ever cross-country 50/50 lottery draw in support of Olympians and Paralympians.

While this is an exciting National initiative to support our athletes, it is especially impactful for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island supported athletes as profits gained will go directly back into Provincial Sport Organizations in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

The goal of the Team Canada 50/50 Lottery is to enhance the development of provincial level athletes, coaches, and technical leaders in Olympic and Paralympic sport disciplines that are eligible to participate in the Canada Summer and Winter Games. This extensive funding will be in place to support Nova Scotian and Prince Edward Island PSOs in key performance areas of performance support, coaching and technical leadership, sport science and sport medicine, and organizational support.

“The Team Canada 50/50 Draw is a unique way of supporting NS and PEI athletes and we are thrilled to be part of the program that can make a real difference to sport in Atlantic Canada,” said CSCA Ken Bagnell, President, CSI Atlantic. “Funds raised by sales in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island will stay in province and go towards helping athletes excel on their journey to Canada Games and possibly to a future Olympic Games.”

Team Canada 50/50 officially launched July 12, 2021 and tickets are available for purchase at this link. For each draw, the winner will take home half of the final jackpot. Tickets start at $10, and players must be of majority age, and in their home province to play. Residents of New Brunswick and Newfoundland are not currently available to participate.
